MARION, WI- The Marion Mustangs held off a late rally, topping Gresham 8-5. The Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice ground-out by Brandon Petersen, and Sawyer Kamba kept the Wildcats bats quiet for the first three innings with one hit and four strikeouts. Gresham responded in the fourth with two runs, but Marion answered with five runs in their half of the inning. Braylon Mielke had an RBI base hit after a couple of runs scored on errors. Gresham scored twice in the fifth on a 2 RBI hit by Thomas Kaquatosh, but left bases loaded in the seventh. Kaquatosh had two hits on the day, with the rest of Gresham’s hits being scattered. Kamba earned the win. Wanbli Spotted War Bonnet took the loss for Gresham, despite six strikeouts. Mielke had three hits to lead the Mustangs.
