SHAWANO, WI- The City of Shawano is reminding residents and commuters of a major road closure beginning Monday, May 5, as part of ongoing street improvement efforts.
Lieg Avenue will be completely closed to all traffic from the CTH M Bridge (including the bridge itself) to Lincoln Street. The closure is scheduled to last through Friday, May 16, weather permitting. Crews will be removing existing pavement and repaving the roadway during this time.
The City’s Public Works Department prioritized completing many of this year’s street projects by Memorial Day, aiming to minimize major summer disruptions. Lieg Avenue is one of several key projects underway this spring.
Access & Detour Information:

Lincoln Street and Main Street will remain open and accessible.

Franklin Street will have ramped access throughout the project.

Detour Route: Drivers are advised to use Main Street ➡ West Green Bay Street ➡ County Hwy MMM ➡ County Hwy M.
City officials thank the community for their patience and cooperation as they work to improve infrastructure ahead of the busy summer season. Additional updates on road projects will be shared throughout the week.
