Marvin L. Beyersdorf, age 81 of the Town of Wyoming, Waupaca County, passed away on Friday May 2, 2025 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.
Marvin Lawrence Beyersdorf was born on September 9, 1943, in the Township of Wyoming, Waupaca County. He grew up on the family farm alongside his siblings and attended school in Big Falls. He later attended Marion High School until his junior year, when he left to help full time on the farm. On October 3, 1964, Marvin married Diane J. Nieland at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa. Together, they built a life, raised a family, and in March of 1974, purchased their own farm in the Town of Wyoming, which they operated for about 17 years.
Marvin also worked at Marion Plywood for a time and later spent over 41 years as a welder at F.W.D. Seagrave. A naturally social person, Marvin truly enjoyed going to work—not just for the job, but for the chance to connect with others. He officially retired at the age of 79.
A devoted member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Big Falls, Marvin cherished his faith community and loved catching up with friends. In his younger years, he played a lot of softball and was an avid hunter, pursuing deer, coon, bear, and turkey. He also enjoyed trout fishing at his favorite quiet spot near Spaulding Road, where he could relax and try his luck with the line.
Marvin took great pride in his vegetable garden—especially his beloved pickles, though his family joked that he planted far more than anyone wanted to pick. Over the years, he dehorned thousands of cattle for area farms and was always willing to lend a hand, especially on his uncle’s farm. A strong and dependable provider, Marvin was someone you could always count on.
He was a lifetime member of the Big Falls Bowhunters and a long-time member of the Big Falls Lions Club. He also volunteered with the Little Wolf Gobblers through the Turkey Federation and took pride in serving as the “head roaster” for the Big Falls Corn Roast for many years. These groups brought him great joy, combining his love of people with his desire to give back.
Marvin had a lucky streak, often winning shotguns at local raffles and banquets—so many that he made sure everyone in the family had at least one or two. In his later years, one of his favorite routines was driving into Marion each day to check his mail and buy a lottery ticket—something he rarely missed.
He’ll be remembered as a tireless worker, a generous family man, and the family’s biggest jokester—always ready with a one-liner and a smile. Marvin knew how to laugh, how to love, and how to live life fully. He will be deeply missed.
