
Jack Lester Wegner, 80, of Shawano, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in Neenah, surrounded by his family. Born on September 7, 1944, in Antigo, Wisconsin, Jack lived a life marked by duty, devotion, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
Jack proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that deeply shaped his character. After his military service, he dedicated 25 years to public service as a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa “Teri” Wegner; daughters, Jolene Leisch (Andrew) and Andrea Kuzniar (Philip); grandchildren, Rebeka Stowe, Ashley Stowe, Nathan Stowe, Conner Kuzniar, and Aiden Kuzniar; great-grandchildren, Arya Tyon and Aurora Boudreau; and brothers, Frank Wegner (Sandra) and Mike Wegner (Paula). Jack is also survived by his cousin, Nan Mueller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Marcela Wegner, and his brother, Ron Wegner
Jack found great joy in fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends, often sharing a glass of Jim Beam at the Legion, where he was a familiar face at the card table. He will be remembered for his unmistakable laugh, which made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on May 15, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. The church is located at 302 S Main St, Shawano, WI 54166.
