Police in Shawano had a busy Monday with a wide variety of incidents reported across the city.
Just after 2 a.m., officers responded to a suspicious person outside Hensel’s Bar on South Washington Street. The caller described a man behaving oddly, but no criminal activity was found.
Later that morning, police were called to the Peoples Express gas station on South Main Street after someone drove off with a gas nozzle still attached. The suspect’s license plate was recorded, and damage was being assessed.
A suspicious vehicle was reported parked outside Cellcom on North Main for over 24 hours, missing a rear window. Police investigated, but the vehicle did not appear to be stolen.
In other calls, officers handled trespassing at a private residence on Madison Way, a child in meltdown at Bridge the Gap on East Green Bay Street, and recovered a damaged car mirror left near a mailbox on East Ridlington Avenue.
Afternoon activity included truancy checks, welfare calls, and a report of bullying at a school bus stop involving ongoing harassment of young children.
That evening, multiple units responded to the old Pick ‘n Save building where a window was found broken. Shortly after, officers were dispatched to Acorn and Waukechon Streets for a domestic disturbance. No arrests were reported, but the situation remains under investigation.
And early Tuesday morning, police conducted a welfare check on a man in crisis after the Veterans Crisis Center reported he may be suicidal. Officers arrived in time and are continuing to monitor the situation.
Clintonville Police responded to a range of calls throughout the day on Monday, keeping officers busy across the city.
Just after midnight, a report of an animal nuisance came in near East 12th Street and North Main. A short time later, police assisted another agency on East Green Bay Street, and by early morning, officers were investigating suspicious activity on North Main.
A 911 misdial was logged around 5:20 a.m. on West Green Tree Road, followed by extra patrols in residential and school areas throughout the day. Two open-door calls were reported—one on Wilson Street in the late afternoon, and another on 20th Street just after 11 p.m.
Officers conducted multiple traffic stops on South Main Street, and a welfare check was performed in the same area during the early afternoon.
In the evening, police assisted the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office on Nohr Road, and responded to an alarm activation on South Main just before 11 p.m.
In Shawano County, it was a busy Monday for law enforcement with over two dozen incidents reported across the area. Among the most notable: two individuals were picked up on active warrants, one from Brown County Jail and another from Marathon County, both safely taken into custody without incident.
Early in the morning, deputies delivered a death notification from ThedaCare Hospice to a local resident in Shawano, following the passing of her husband. Just hours later, officers responded to a flurry of disabled vehicle reports—at least six cars broke down across major highways, including one unattended blue sedan in Pulaski and a semi truck stranded at the intersection of Highway 117 and South Highway 22.
In a separate incident, a trespassing complaint in Shawano revealed signs of a break-in at a cabin, with food and water missing and a broken window reported. Investigators believe the intruder may have been seeking shelter.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge-Munsee tribal police handled a weapon offense involving a Manitowoc man at a rural property near County Trunk VV, as well as a trespassing incident later in the day involving a pedestrian near Henning Creek Road.
Other calls included welfare checks, traffic hazards involving downed power lines and trees, suspicious vehicles, and assistance with multiple fire-related incidents—one involving a 500-pound LP tank venting gas in Mattoon.
