Sarah Lee Curtin, age 58 of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Neenah, surrounded by her loving family.
Sarah was born in Shawano on October 22, 1966, a daughter of the late Fred and Bonnie (Tuma) Curtin. She attended school in Shawano, graduating with the Class of 1985, and later earned her CNA. In February of 1987 she was united in marriage to Michael Lewis. The couple had three children, Ryan, Erin, and Cody, who passed away in infancy. Sarah spent many years working as a waitress and a cook, and also as a blackjack dealer at the Menominee Casino. Her hobbies included playing cribbage, shooting pool, and going to the races.
Survivors include her children, Ryan (Shalissa) Lewis, and Erin (Steven Boivin) Lewis, all of Shawano; three grandchildren, Ebony Peters, Kinsley Lewis, and Bellemey Lewis; her big brother, Jeff (Tammy) Curtin of Shawano; her uncle, Tom (Judy) Tuma of Shawano; her aunt, Barbara Evrard of Green Bay; the father of her children; Mike (Tammy) Lewis; her nieces and nephews, Savanna (Curtis Waupoose) Curtin, Jarrid (Katie West) Curtin and Karly (Will Teetzen) Curtin; and great nieces and nephews, Braedy, Broedy, Vienna, Hazel, and Benson.
Sarah is further survived by her extended family including the members of the Class of 1985, the Peterman Clan, and her special cousin, Ward Peterson. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bonnie; her infant son, Cody; maternal grandparents, Glen and Leone Tuma; paternal grandparents, James and Helen Curtin; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A gathering for relatives and friends to share memories of Sarah will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano.
Sarah’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano ER staff, especially Dr. Richter, Brian, Chelsea, Elise, Dr. Finch, Hanna, and Fritz; the ThedaCare Medical Center-Neenah ICU staff; Shawano Ambulance Service; and all of the people who reached out to our family during this difficult time.
