NORTHEAST, WI- Two major highways in Northeast Wisconsin have been named among the most treacherous to drive during winter in a recent nationwide survey.
Highway 29 ranked as the fourth-most-feared road in Wisconsin and 96th in the United States, according to a survey of 3,000 drivers conducted by Florida car dealer Gunther VW Daytona.
Stretching from Green Bay to western Wisconsin, Highway 29 navigates a mix of urban and rural traffic. The survey notes that winter storms often create hazardous conditions on this route, with snow and ice frequently contributing to accidents.
Highway 41, which shares much of its route with Interstate 41, came in fifth on the Wisconsin list and 116th nationally. This highway connects Green Bay and Milwaukee and is prone to slick road surfaces and reduced visibility during winter months. Survey authors highlight that these conditions often lead to multi-vehicle collisions.
As winter driving challenges persist, authorities continue to emphasize safe driving practices and preparedness for those navigating Wisconsin’s highways during inclement weather.
