GREEN BAY, WI- Shawano’s Leah Nordin etched her name into the history books Tuesday night, becoming the school’s all-time leading basketball scorer — for both boys and girls — during the Hawks’ dominant 61-22 victory over Green Bay East.
Nordin, a 6-foot-2 junior, hit a short jumper from the left side of the lane with 9:16 remaining in the first half, surpassing John Cantwell’s long-standing record of 1,329 career points set in 1958. Nordin’s milestone comes just a month after she broke the record for all-time scoring by a female at Shawano.
By the end of the game, Nordin had added 18 points to her tally, bringing her career total to 1,343 points. She scored 13 of her points in a dominant first half, leading Shawano to a commanding 39-5 halftime advantage.
