SHAWANO, WI- Motorists in Shawano, Waupaca, and Menominee counties should prepare for shoulder and lane closures as tree clearing begins on several highways in advance of upcoming construction projects. The work, scheduled to start Monday, January 13, will help facilitate improvements across the region as part of 13 planned construction projects.
Shawano County
- WIS 29: Tree clearing will occur from the Shawano exit (227) to Rose Brook Road, west of Shawano.
- WIS 156: Work is planned from WIS 47, south of Bonduel, eastward to WIS 55.
Waupaca County
- WIS 54: Clearing will take place from the Portage County line to Foxfire Drive in Waupaca.
- US 45 (shared with Shawano County): Work is scheduled from Gollnow Road in Marion to County C in Clintonville.
Menominee County
- WIS 47: Two segments will be cleared, from the Langlade County line to WIS 55.
- WIS 55: Work is planned between WIS 47 and the Langlade County line.
Impacts on Traffic
Motorists can expect temporary shoulder closures and flag-controlled lane closures during the clearing process. Drivers are advised to remain cautious and aware of workers in these areas.
Other Counties Affected
Tree clearing will also impact highways in Forest, Green Lake, Lincoln, Marathon, Vilas, and Wood counties as part of this statewide effort to prepare for significant infrastructure upgrades.
