SHAWANO, WI– A Shawano woman and two men are facing federal charges in separate cases involving involuntary manslaughter and drug-related offenses. Desmond L. Waukau Jr., 21, of Green Bay, has been indicted on involuntary manslaughter and fleeing an officer resulting in death. According to court records, Waukau allegedly caused the death of a male passenger on May 19 while attempting to evade a marked police vehicle on the Menominee Reservation.
Waukau was reportedly under the influence of a controlled substance and an intoxicant at the time of the crash. He was indicted on Dec. 17, arrested and arraigned on Dec. 30, and is currently detained at the Brown County Jail.
If convicted, Waukau faces up to eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine for involuntary manslaughter. The charge of fleeing an officer resulting in death carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 2 1/2 years and up to 30 years in prison.
Waukau is scheduled to stand trial on March 10 before District Judge William Griesbach.
Dianna L. Chevalier, 40, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. The incident allegedly occurred on Sept. 10 on the Menominee Reservation.
Chevalier was indicted on Dec. 17. However, no court dates have been set, and she is not currently in custody, according to online court records.
Jerome D. Crowe, 37, of Shawano, is accused of possessing a mixture containing cocaine with the intent to distribute. The alleged offense occurred on Nov. 19.
Crowe’s indictment did not provide further details about the incident. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 8 and is not currently in custody.
