The victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash on December 25, 2024, has been identified as 29-year-old Zachary Wudke of Pulaski, Wisconsin.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatch Center received a report of the crash at approximately 10:48 a.m. The accident occurred on County Highway S near the intersection with County Highway C in the Town of Chase.
Responding deputies found a Chevrolet SUV with extensive front-end damage after it struck a tree in the yard of a residence. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle, driven by Wudke, was traveling east on County Highway S with a 4-year-old male passenger, also from Pulaski.
For reasons still under investigation, the SUV veered off the roadway, crossed a ditch, and continued through a field before colliding with a tree. Wudke was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The child passenger was transported to a hospital in Green Bay, where he was treated for minor injuries.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office, continues to investigate the incident. No further details are being released at this time.
