SHAWANO, WI- On October 8, students from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Shawano, grades 5-8, put their faith into action by participating in the Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) Mobile Pack event in Green Bay. The students, along with middle school staff and parent volunteers, traveled to the Green Bay Community Church, where they took part in the service project to help combat global hunger.
At the event, students worked with other volunteers to pack a nutritious blend of vitamins, rice, soy, and dried vegetables into bags, which were then sealed and boxed for shipment to communities in need around the world. During their shift, the group packed 275 boxes of food, providing an impressive 59,400 meals to those facing hunger.
“Jesus calls us to serve, not to be served. This is something we hope to instill in our students at Sacred Heart Catholic School,” said Mary Rose Morse, 8th-grade homeroom teacher. “Through this experience, students learned that serving others takes effort, but it is also fun and very rewarding.”
The Feed My Starving Children event offered Sacred Heart students a meaningful opportunity to live out their faith through the act of service, helping to feed those most in need across the globe.
