WAUPACA, WI- On Monday evening, a semi-truck crash on US Highway 10 near State Highway 22 resulted in the death of the driver, though authorities say the cause of death was due to a medical condition rather than the accident itself.
Around 7:00 p.m. on September 9, 2024, a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper reported the single-vehicle crash to the Waupaca County Communications Center. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office and Waupaca Police Department were dispatched to the scene to assist.
Upon arrival, officers found the driver of the semi-truck unresponsive. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated, and the driver was transported to ThedaCare Waupaca by Gold Cross Ambulance Service. However, the driver was later pronounced dead due to a medical condition unrelated to the crash.
Preliminary findings indicate that the semi-truck, traveling eastbound on US Highway 10 west of State Highway 22, veered into the median, struck a guardrail, and came to rest further east in the median.
