
Jean Breitzman, age 80, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Shawano. Jean was born in the town of Howe, Oconto County, on April 14, 1944, daughter of the late Paul and Doris (Sovinski) Tuschy. After graduating high school, she went on to receive her LPN degree from Bellin College of nursing. After that she went on to work at the Oconto Falls Hospital and the Woodland Village Nursing Home of Gillett. On October 24, 1964, Jean was united in marriage to Roger Breitzman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hayes, Wisconsin. Together they worked on the family farm and raised their three children. Jean was devoted to her faith and was an active member at St. John’s Green Valley. She was superintendent of the church Sunday School, VBS and a member of the Ladies Aid. Jean volunteered many hours at the LCFS thrift store in Shawano. She enjoyed going to LWML conferences. She loved music, especially country, Christian and attended many Hodag festivals with Roger. In her free time, Jean loved traveling, especially to Alaska and Hawaii and going to lunch with her local swimming group, friends and family. Her family, however, was her greatest priority in life. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her world. Jean was a caring and selfless woman that put others first and was the rock of her family.
Jean is survived by: her children, Kay (Richard) Wauters, Paul (Annette) Breitzman, and Joy (Chris Wood) Breitzman; grandchildren, Spencer Wauters, Paige (Gabe Pierce) Wauters, Travis Breitzman, and Aaron Breitzman; great-grandchildren, Pyper Pierce and Ezra Pierce; her siblings, Elenore Hischke, Eunice Loomans and Gary (Cindy) Tuschy. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roger and her parents.
A funeral service for Jean will be held at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Green Valley located at W1294 Nauman Rd. Cecil, WI 54111 on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, with Rev. John Laatsch officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery following services.
