WAUPACA, WI- Scott Farmer, 48, was convicted on Wednesday for his role in a tragic drunk driving accident that took the lives of four siblings in Waupaca County last December. Farmer pleaded no contest to four counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and a fifth-offense operating while intoxicated, relating to the December 16, 2023, crash in Weyauwega.
The victims were siblings Daniela, 9; Lilian, 14; Fabian, 23; and 25 year-old Daniel Gonzalez.
Farmer’s sentencing is scheduled for November 22. As part of the plea agreement, additional charges and traffic citations were dismissed. The plea allows the Gonzalez family to avoid the emotional toll of a trial.
The crash occurred when Farmer, driving with a blood alcohol content of .346—more than four times the legal limit—drove the wrong way on Highway 10 and collided head-on with the Gonzalez family’s vehicle. Farmer’s truck was found with a large bottle of vodka inside, highlighting the severity of his impairment.
