OSHKOSH, WI- The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two individuals involved in Monday’s plane crash near the EAA AirVenture convention in Oshkosh.
The victims are Sean M. Tommervik, 37, who recently relocated to Philadelphia from El Paso, Texas, and James G. Sullivan, 32, who moved from Nashville, Tennessee, to Brooklyn, New York. The sheriff’s office stated in a news release that while official confirmation from the Medical Examiner is pending, initial investigations strongly suggest that Tommervik and Sullivan were the occupants of the plane.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 12:50 p.m. Monday to a farm field near Nekimi Avenue and Old Knapp Road in the town of Nekimi, approximately two miles south of the EAA AirVenture grounds. Upon arrival, they found the plane engulfed in flames.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is continuing its investigation into the crash.
