
Robert Lee Potter Jr, age 64, of Shawano, passed away Monday morning, July 22, 2024, surrounded by family in his special place after a valiant three-week battle with pancreatic cancer. Robert was born July 30, 1959, in Whittier, California, a son of Robert Sr. and Loretta (Peer) Potter. He attended Whittier High School, graduating with the class of 1977. Following high school, he attended UC Santa Barbara where he studied animal biology and animal behavior. Following college, he was in charge of the Marine Biology Roundhouse teaching station at Manhattan Beach Pier, California, working with the Los Angeles County School District. Robert was an artist and entrepreneur in conjunction with educating children. In 2000, Robert moved to Las Vagas and began working at the Mirage Hotel as a costume artist with the Cirque Du Soleil show. He met his future wife, Kathy Lamotte, in 2001. The couple then relocated to Shawano in 2002 and started over fresh. Robert began working odd and end jobs to make ends meet and with hard work and perseverance the couple was able to purchase their dream home on the Wolf River. The couple was married on a ponton boat on the Wolf River on July 30, 2016. He continued with his entrepreneurial business following their marriage. His hobbies included designing and creating art, fishing, and shooting darts.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Shawano; parents, Robert Sr. and Loretta Potter; stepchildren, Juston S. Warford of Flagstaff, AZ, Marty W. Warford of Antigo, WI, Jasmine C. Jenkins of Las Vagas, NV, and Tracy (Paul) Kersten of Shawano, WI; twelve grandchildren; his siblings, Bruce (Christie) Potter, Shelly (Bill) Grieve, Lantz Potter, and Shelah (Frank) Potter. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Robert Potter Jr. will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, beginning at 1:00 pm at the family home, N6938 South Forest Haven Road, Shawano. Please wear your luau
clothing. Memorials are preferred in Robert’s name.
