WAUPACA, WI- A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday to mark the completion of the Humane Society of Waupaca County’s expansion project. The new 1,700 square foot Well-Pet Center, which broke ground in November 2023, includes an exam room, X-ray room, surgery/recovery room, pharmacy, and kennel space.
Currently, the Well-Pet Center offers spays and neuters, with plans to add more services such as vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchipping in the future. The facility will serve residents of Waupaca County and surrounding counties.
The Humane Society of Waupaca County began 25 years ago, renting an old warehouse on the west side of town. In 2004, they constructed their original shelter building, but by the early 2010s, they realized they needed more space.
Despite the progress, the Humane Society still needs $100,000 in donations to fully fund the expansion project. Donations can be made online via the shelter’s website or by mailing a check or cash to 2293 Commercial Drive, Waupaca, WI 54981.
