BONDUEL, WI- The Bonduel School District is in talks about referendum in November.
“I can envision where we have two questions on the ballot in November,” Superintendent Joe Dawidziak said. He added both would be operational with one being a technology referendum that has been ongoing and one for support staff pay.
“Since about 2006, we have had an ongoing technology referendum for $150,000 a year until now.” He said the talk has been about tripling that amount to about $450,000 a year.
He said the other would be possibly around $300,000 for support staff benefits, specifically special education aids.
“The majority of our aids are part time and have no benefits,” Dawidziak said. “It has been a revolving door and it is hard to fill.”
He says the hope is to switch the positions to full-time so benefits can be added.
“I can tell you, people here are used to the technology dollars, but in this case the dollars will be larger, and it helps that we are transparent.
Dawidziak says he is in contact with the Senior Citizen and farming communities and says he has heard a lot of support from both groups.
He says it would be a small tax impact to pass both.
The decisions about dollars and questions have not been finalized.
“Our school district is in a fantastic position regardless, but it sure would be helpful if we were supported.”
