WAUPACA, WI- 36-year-old Daniel Pachecobolanos, faces charges after allegedly causing a wrong-way crash on Highway 10, resulting in three hospitalizations. Pachecobolanos, who confessed to consuming four beers before the incident, claimed he drove because his friends were too intoxicated.
Pachecobolanos appeared in Waupaca County court, where he was charged with three counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and one count of causing injury while operating under the influence. He was assigned a $25,000 cash bond and is set to return to court on April 9 for further proceedings.
The collision occurred at 7:55 p.m. in the town of Weyauwega when an eastbound vehicle entered the westbound lane, colliding with another car.
According to reports, Pachecobolanos and his companions were en route from a restaurant near Weyauwega to Neenah. Pachecobolanos admitted to driving due to his friends’ excessive drinking, stating he had consumed four Michelob Ultras. However, due to his injuries, a field sobriety test was not administered at the scene, although a blood draw was conducted, with results pending.
The criminal complaint also revealed that Pachecobolanos did not possess a valid driver’s license and had no prior drunk driving convictions.
