CLINTONVILLE, WI- Following a one-month delay, the Clintonville City Council has officially approved a hotel/motel ordinance, which imposes a 60-day occupancy limit for individuals at such establishments within the city over a six-month period.
The ordinance, passed during the council’s Nov. 14 meeting after its second reading, is now in effect.
Originally introduced during the Sept. 12 meeting with a first reading, the second reading faced a delay and was removed from the Oct. 10 agenda. The decision prompted public discussions at the Oct. 12 council meeting, where various individuals, including a motel owner and a current motel resident, expressed their concerns.
The newly enacted ordinance is justified by the city and the Clintonville Police Department, citing a significant increase in police and emergency calls related to vagrancy, drug activity, disturbances, and disorderly conduct disturbances at certain hotels and motels within the city.
