
Kathy R. Torznik, age 66 of Green Bay, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, when she passed away unexpectedly at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
Kathy was born in Shawano on December 13, 1956, daughter of the late Robert and Nancy (Hansen) Lueck. She grew up in Shawano and graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1973. Following high school Kathy attended NWTC where she earned her licensed practical nursing degree. At a young age she married Gene Schroeder and later Daniel LaViolette. She and Daniel had a son, Luke LaViolette. Kathy was employed as an LPN at Green Tree in Clintonville, Birch Hill, Evergreen Health Care Center, and Maple Lane in Shawano. She worked at AMS, then went to work at Bellin Health in Green Bay until retiring. On May 30, 1998, Kathy was united in marriage to Ronald Torznik at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Green Bay. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Green Bay. Kathy loved to cook, sew, and cross stitch. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and singing with the Wolf River Harmony, formerly the Sweet Adelines. Kathy loved to laugh and had a tremendous sense of humor. She was also a cat lover and a very thoughtful, caring, and generous person.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald, of Green Bay; her son, Luke (Amanda Rousseau) LaViolette of Clintonville; her siblings, Brian (Kathy) Lueck of Nashville, TN, Barb (Chris Smyczek) Lueck of Milwaukee, and Sandra (Brian) Stanton of Sobieski, WI; her nieces and nephews, Angela (Nathaniel) Gueths, Melissa (Martez) Thomas, and Travis Beilfuss; and her aunt, uncle, and numerous cousins.
A funeral service for Kathy will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 12:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Andrew Zobel will officiate. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will begin at the church on Friday at 10:30 and continue until the time of service. In lieu of flowers and plants the family requests memorials in Kathy’s name to St. Martin Lutheran School in Clintonville, St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville, or St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.
