SHAWANO, WI- The Shawano Hawks advanced on in Regionals with a 4-2 win at home against Medford. For the Hawks, it was their first win in the postseason since 2019. That year, the Hawks lost in the Regional Finals to Waupaca 6-0.
“I got to start with this group when they were Freshman,” Coach Andrew Brooks said. “We beat Seymour for the first time this year and now we won our first playoff game in quite some time.”
Thursday, Shawano led 2-0 at the break and scored twice in the second half to put the game away. Warner Beyer scored three goals, including the two goals in the second half to put the game away.
“We did not want to back off and let them sneak another one in,” he said. “We just wanted to keep on going.”
Medford made the game 2-1 late in the second half, but could not get any closer.
