Dr. Diana Marlene Morris, age 70 of Keshena, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, left our earth peacefully early Saturday morning, October 14, 2023, at her home following a long, well fought battle with cancer. Diana was born February 11, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Varnell Heeth and Blanch (Lamb) Dunn. She spent her life dedicated to education and her family. Diana graduated from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She moved on to the Ohio State University, where she earned her PhD in
comparative literature, specializing in Native American Studies. When Diana moved to Keshena to join the faculty of The College of Menominee Nation, a passion was ignited. She began as a
professor and advanced to administrative roles, while travelling the country, advocating for the college. Diana finished her career at the College of Menominee Nation in 2020 as Chief Academic Officer, adding and improving many programs for the college. Her legacy there will be felt for many generations.
Diana is survived by her partner, Dale Kakkak, who has been lovingly by her side for this journey, as well as daughters Marie Myers and Melissa Morris of Ohio, and a devoted local stepdaughter Cedar Kakkak and her partner, Ryan Fish, Jr. and his children, Brayden, and Kyren Fish. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren Austin Peters, Ashton LaTender, Simone LaTender, and Scarlett LaTender who will also miss her dearly.
