
David L. Vorpahl, age 73 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, October 13, 2023, at Evergreen Care Center where he had been a resident for the past five years. David was born in Shawano on July 27, 1950, a son of the late Arthur and Frances (Lechterman) Vorpahl. He attended Shawano Schools, graduating from Shawano High School with the Class of 1968. Following school David worked at Phenix Manufacturing in Shawano. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. David enjoyed fishing, bowling, following Wisconsin sports teams, and he was a huge fan of polka music.
Survivors include his daughters, Janet (David) Newling of Ogallala, NE, and Jackie Vorpahl of Appleton; four grandchildren, Tyler, Hallie, Hunter, and Serenity; his brother, Gerhardt (Linda)
Vorpahl of Shawano; and his sister, Patricia (Stanley) Jorgensen of Medford. David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenny Vorpahl.
A funeral service for David will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Andrew Zobel will officiate. Burial will take place in the
Friendship Cemetery in the Town of Belle Plaine. Visitation will begin at the church on Friday at 9:30 am and continue until 11:00 am.
