WITTENBERG, WI-Kelsie Davis, a freshman swimmer from Wittenberg-Birnamwood, etched her name in the annals of history on October 5 when her team hosted New London. Davis shattered both the pool and team records in the 100-yard backstroke, leaving spectators in awe.
Davis blazed through the water in the 100-yard backstroke, completing the race in just 1 minute and 1.62 seconds. This time was a staggering 14 seconds faster than her closest competitor, firmly establishing her dominance in the event. Notably, the pool record had remained unbroken since 2005, and the team record dating back to the year prior had now been rewritten by the young swimmer.
But Kelsie Davis was not content with just one victory. She also clinched the gold in the 100-yard butterfly, achieving a time of 1 minute and 5.9 seconds. Her performance in the 200-yard medley relay, alongside teammates Reese Dickman, Andrea Powell, and Claire Timm, earned them first place with a time of 2 minutes and 14.49 seconds.
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood team had other standout performances as well. Andrea Powell secured a strong second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2 minutes and 33.19 seconds, while Claire Timm followed closely, securing fourth place with a time of 2 minutes and 35.74 seconds. Faith Resch exhibited her speed in the 50-yard freestyle, winning the race with a time of 26.15 seconds, and Reese Dickman claimed second place in 26.55 seconds. Resch wasn’t done yet, conquering the 100-yard freestyle in 58.42 seconds.
