The High School Football season gets underway on Thursday with Week 1 of the regular season. Once again this year, the season starts with non-conference games and crossover games.
THURSDAY AUGUST 17
KEY GAME: De Pere at Neenah
Last year, Neenah won the season opener over De Pere 46-7. The Redbirds lost their first three games of the season to leave themselves on thin ice to make the postseason. Neenah finished tied with powerhouse Kimberly for the conference title. Both teams were playoff teams last year.

KEY GAME: Bonduel at Two Rivers
The Bonduel Bears made level two of the playoffs, and despite a postseason loss, got much improved as the season went on, posting five consecutive games with allowing only single digit scoring. The Bears return a four year starting quarterback in Noah Weier and add some weapons around him. The Bears offense should be fun to watch. Two Rivers is predicted to win the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. Last year the Purple Raiders had one of their best seasons since then, going 12-0 to begin the year before a hard-fought 20-14 defeat against Catholic Memorial in the state semi-finals. hase Matthias enters his senior season with more than 4000 rushing yards and accounted for 36 total offensive touchdowns a year ago. He’s joined in the backfield by quarterback Justin Klinkner, who was among state leaders with 2,647 passing yards and 34 touchdowns, with another 493 yards and six scores on the ground. The game has potential to be very high scoring.
