On July 14, 2023, Kathleen “Kathy” (Bohr) Froemming, age 71, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus after battling cancer. Kathy was born to Joseph and Irma (Bratz) Bohr on July 5, 1952, in Shawano. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Shawano High in 1970. Kathy then went on to attend NWTC and received the Medical Assistant of the year award graduating from her program. Later she was employed at Bay Area Foot Clinic, then ThedaCare Physicians in Shawano. During her time there she worked for all the providers and most all of the specialties. Kathy ended her career working with physiatry and orthopedic surgery.
On September 23, 1972, she was united in marriage to Mel Froemming and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. They were blessed with a son, Jason (Angela) Froemming and their children, Kyle, Kaylee and Erin. Daughter, Kristin (Tyler) Krowiorz and their son, Simon. They truly were the loves of her life!
Kathy enjoyed music and playing the piano. She shared the story of when she was about 11 years old the priest approached her on the playground and said that he just purchased an organ for the church by her home and she was going to be the organist! He handed her a music book and told her to practice. He also added that there would be no payment, but she would be rewarded in Heaven. (I’m sure Kathy checked into this already)
Kathy also loved to hop on the four-wheeler and ride to her river garden. On the trail to the river were green and white street signs she made with the names of her grandchildren. She also carved everyone’s name into the “family tree”. Kathy spent countless hours by the river just listening to the rapids or having a campfire and roasting the “perfect” marshmallow.
Over the years she crafted and painted many projects for all special occasions. Kathy was the kind of person that saw something she liked then went home and made it. She also made the best caramels and seafoam candy.
Besides her immediate family she is survived by other relatives as well as nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Irma Bohr; sister, Karen (Tom) Schwitzer; a sister in infancy and in-laws Fred and Helen Froemming and Al Thaves.
A memorial service for Kathy will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Saturday July 29, 2023, at 4:00pm with Pastor Steve Conradt officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:30pm on Saturday until the time of service.
How lucky am I to have something that makes saying good-bye so hard!
Kathy’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the wonderful care.
