Duane H. Eggert, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Friday June 30, 2023. Duane was born on January 17, 1949, in Shawano to the late Harvey and Eena (Salzmann) Eggert. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1967. In Duane’s younger years he played in a polka band named the Blue Mountain Boys. He farmed on the home farm all his life. Duane was a member of the Guernsey Breeders Association and Salem United Methodist Church. On September 15, 2018, he was united in marriage to Carla Ebert in Red River. Duane enjoyed hunting, attending Pulaski Polka Days, many activities with his grandchildren and making maple syrup. The two most important things in his life were his family and farming.
Duane is survived by his wife, Carla; children, Rebecca (David) Bessette, Paul (Tiffany) Eggert, Crystal (Daniel) Hohensee, and Jason (Dalton Fairchild) Eggert; stepchildren, Carrie (Jeff) Arndt, Chad Korth, Colleen (Todd) Schertz and Craig Korth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Roe and Annette (Gerald) Seehafer.
A funeral service for Duane will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday July 13, 2023, at Salem United Methodist Church in Red River, with Pastor Daniel Kim officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service.
