
Opal Mae (Schoenrock) Miller, age 88, of Marion passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 4, 2023, at Care Partners in Clintonville.
Opal was born in the Town of Dupont on October 27, 1934, a daughter of the late Edwin and Edna (Lucht) Schoenrock. Opal graduated from Marion High School in 1952. After graduation, Opal moved to southern WI to live with her aunt and uncle, the late Norman and Hazel Tornow. Opal worked at Harley Davidson of Milwaukee for a short time before returning to Marion, WI where she was united in marriage to DeLyle William Miller of July 16, 1955.
The couple farmed in the Town of Dupont. In addition to farming Opal worked for Donaldson Dry Cleaning and Dupont Cheese. Besides Opal working in Dupont’s Cheese Store, Opal and DeLyle delivered cheese curds. Several family members had the pleasure of accompanying them on these very interesting journeys where special memories were made.
Opal was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church and served on the Ladies Aide and Finance Committee. Her interests included gardening, cooking, baking, grandchildren, school sporting events, fishing, card playing, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks, senior center activities and lunches, family gatherings, and the holidays. Opal was a member of the Dupont Card Club and various other card clubs.
Survivors include nine children: Dale (Sally) Miller, Lori (Duaine) Doehling, Debbie Schwartz, Dean (special friend Debbie), Miller, Lynn (Mike) Kroening, Larry (special friend-Shaun) Miller, Lisa (Kris) Betow, Dana (Jeff) Trumbull, Lonna Miller. Sixteen grandchildren; Sadie (Kevin) Dana, Adam (Emily) Miller, Ethan (special friend-Berit) Miller, Christina (Tom) Hubbard, Alicia (Jim) Mengert, Nathan (Tiffany) Doehling, Melissa (fiancé Geddie Parry) Schwartz, Kelly (Bryan) Wroblewski, Amanda Schwartz, Travis (fiancé Michelle Noffke) Miller, Justin (Devon) Miller, Jorden Kroening, Eric (Taylor) Kroening, Megan (Spenser) Thiel, Kimberly (Travis) Verg, Kristopher (fiancé Amy Guenther) Betow. Twenty-six great grandchildren; Liam, Cailin, Brody, Gavin, Oliver, Alexander, Elliott, Angel, Jordan, Addysen, Brycen, Makenna, Kenzley, Brea, Aspyn, Cooper, Miles, Sutton, Landon, Franklin, Raelynn, Alexis, Jaxon, Owen, Ayden, and Kendrix.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents-Edwin and Edna Schoenrock, father and mother-in-law-William and Dora Miller, husband-DeLyle Miller, sister-Rachel Hoffman, brother and sister in laws-Howard and Arlene Miller, Deloris Miller, William Jr. Miller, and Aaron Hoffman.
Opal will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, her legacy will live on for generations to come.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont, with Pastor Karen Riemer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Marion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Special thank you to Care Partners of Clintonville and the staff for their loving care, friendship, and devotion to Opal’s care after the stroke that forever changed her life. Special thank you to Theda Care Hospice that assisted Opal and the family with her final journey home to be with her Savior, and family and friends that proceeded her in death. In-lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Paul’s Parish Hall Addition building fund.
