
Raymond A. Schroeder, age 93 of Bonduel, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Ray was born on November 4, 1929 in the town of Underhill to the late Henry and Olga (Marcheske) Schroeder. He was baptized on December 15, 1929 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gillett and was confirmed on July 30, 1944 by Pastor Eric Wains. Ray went to grade school at Sunny Lawn at Hintz and graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1948. On June 23, 1951, Ray married Doris Hansen at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor J.R. Westphal. Ray joined Bethel Lutheran Church in 1953 where he served on the church council and various committees. He also served as head usher and helped build the new church in 1961.
Ray and Doris farmed until 1995, selling the farm and retiring in Bonduel after 44 years of farming. His part time job was working at grocery stores. Over the years he worked at Art’s Super Market n Gillett, Bob’s Super Market in Bonduel, Pick ‘n Save in Shawano for 30 years, and Charlies Country Store in Shawano for 3 years. Ray enjoyed fishing, dancing, picking berries, gardening, wood working, and making special projects for the grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Claudette (Terry) Tipton and Dawn (Ricky) Wudtke; 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Magee, Jason (Holly) Tipton, Alyssa (Adam) Heynen, Tanya Jacob, Logan Wudtke, Ryan (Megan) Schroeder, Lindsay (Ty) Kaquatosh, and Tory (Kristen) Wudtke; 12 great-grandchildren, Rugby, Riley, Terry Joel, Tucker, Elsie, Lilah, Lainey, Charlotte, Liam, Miles, Marley, and Maddie; sister-in-law, Diana Bahr
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, in 2016; son, Lowell, in 2010; siblings, Leonard, Wilfred (Elenora), Karl (Ruth), Ruth (Lester) Leorhke, Doris (Donald) Herms, Richard, and Baby Sister; siblings-in-law, Elmer Rademann, LaRue (Jane) Hansen, Marvin (Arvilla) Severson, Janice (Duane) Kuehn, and Roger Bahr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Bethel Lutheran Church (N6955 County Rd Bb, Oconto Falls, WI 54154) from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Keith Sorlie and Pastor Carol Christensen officiating. Ray will be interred at Bethel Cemetery beside Doris. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
