Ramona “Moni” Mehlberg, age 89 of Caroline went home to heaven on December 28, 2022, at Aster Assisted Living in Clintonville.
The former Ramona Jean Polzin-Kissinger was born January 22, 1933, in Big Falls to Leonard & Helen (Hintz) Polzin. Leonard passed away in 1938 when Moni was only five years old. In 1941 Helen married Clarence Kissinger and he was a wonderful stepfather to her. Moni’s family moved a lot, she attended high school in Berlin, Waupaca, Weyauwega, and finally Marion where she graduated in 1951.
Moni met Milton “Luke” Mehlberg at a dance at the Caroline Ballroom. Despite his being quite her senior, they got married December 1, 1951, and celebrated 68 years together before his passing in 2020. Moni helped on the farm in rural Caroline and their Mehlberg’s Maple Syrup business while raising three children. Later in life she took some classes and became a dietitian, she worked at Clintonville Hospital and Pine Manor.
Moni loved going up north to Nelma where she and Luke had a cabin together with their good friends. Fishing and having fun with her two besties, Lois and Muriel, was her favorite pastime. She liked cats and had some favorites throughout her life. She was a tough lady, one time she caught a Bobcat that was in the straw mow with her bare hands and a gunny sack (mostly just to prove it to Luke)!
Moni loved the Lord, she read her Bible daily and instilled that love to her children reading devotions in the morning before school. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline. She was a sweet lady who will be missed by many.
Survivors include a son, Robin (Barb) Mehlberg, and a daughter, Lori (Dave) Egdorf. There are 4 grandchildren: Sam (Melissa) Egdorf, Jesse (Ashlee) Blum, Terri (Jacob) Graham, and Isaac Mehlberg. There are 6 great grandchildren: Aubrey and Sadie Egdorf, Kaylee and Shane Blum, Henry and Jack Graham. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Caroldean Mehlberg; a son-in-law, Jeff (Kathy) Blum; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
