GREEN BAY, WI- The Shawano Boys and Girls Basketball teams both came out on top at the 2022 Shawano Sun Drop Shootout on Tuesday.
The Shawano Girls topped Oconto Falls 34-11. The Panthers went the last 11 minutes of the first half and the first 9 minutes of the second half without scoring.
Oconto Falls took a 3-0 lead and only scored 5 first half points. Shawano did all of their scoring from inside and led 18-5 at the break. Leah Nordin led all scorers with 16 points.
Oconto Falls was led by Bailee Gorman with 4 points, all in the second half.
The Shawano Boys topped Green Bay Southwest 56-47 in a battle of one loss teams. Shawano was forced to shoot more from the outside and finished with 3-three pointers on the day. Michael Metcalf-Grassman led the Hawks with 15 points and Jacob Landon added 12. Shawano got an 8 point game from Logan Sipple and 9 points from Luke Guenther.
The Hawks led 33-26 at the half, and let the Trojans make it a game late in the second half. Southwest hit some key three-point shots late and was strong from the free throw line to stay in the game.
