SHAWANO, WI- Shawano downtown is getting a Halloween facelift thanks to the “Shawano Holiday Sisters” Chelsea Gilling and Abby Wallrich got a jump on Halloween decorating by placing 27 skeletons on The Stock Market building.
“Our favorite holiday is Halloween,” Wallrich said.
The skeltons can be seen climbing and hanging off the building as cars drive down East Green Bay Street. “People stop their cars and take pictures and I even saw one car get beeped at while stopping,” Gilling said. “We were thinking of ideas on how to jazz up the Halloween spirit and draw attention to the busiest corner in Shawano, Green Bay Street and Main Street,”Wallrich added.
Gilling said this is just the beginning, and they plan on expanding. She said their inspiration comes from their childhood. “Our parents ignited our passion for holidays and they went all out,”Gilling said. “We looked like Candyland.” Wallrich said she remembers helping her dad decorate the outside of the house while Chelsea and their mom decorated the inside.
Since last Halloween, the Stock Market has expanded by adding to the original building and opening Fully Stocked next door. For Gilling and Wallrich, the fun is just starting.
”There is something magical about this time of year.”
The sisters are organizing a Haunted Tour of Shawano at the end of the month and bring back Witches Night Out on October 7.
