KAUKAUNA, WI- A group of students is raising questions about the Galloping Ghost statue at Kaukauna High School. The students say the statue could be misinterpreted and are asking that it be removed from its place in front of the school. They say it could be misconstrued as a racist symbol that is similar to clothing associated with the Ku Klux Klan. Some alumni say the statue is an important part of the school’s history and they want it to stay where it is. The statue was erected in 1999. The students say they don’t oppose the school’s mascot, just the statue.
