
Frieda A. Mauritz, age 76 of Tigerton passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at her home.
The former Frieda Arlene Huebner was born on September 24, 1945, at Iola Hospital to Harvey and Frieda (Kitzman) Huebner and grew up in the Tigerton area. She was united in marriage on May 8, 1965, to Raymond G. Mauritz Jr. at St. Anthony’s Rectory in Tigerton. Frieda worked for a short time at Flanagan’s Sauerkraut Factory in Bear Creek, Pan-A-Live Pizza in Rosholt, and did some seasonal work picking pickles. Her husband preceded her in death on August 23, 2002. Then she was employed part-time in the kitchen at Crossroads Bar and Grill in Tigerton. But over the years, her proudest task was always taking care of her husband and raising her children.
Frieda was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton, where she volunteered with the Ladies Aide and helped with lots of funeral dinners. She enjoyed playing card games like Skip-Bo and Chicken-Foot dominoes with her kids and grandkids. Frieda liked playing the slot machines at the local casinos, winning on scratch off tickets, and going out to eat whenever possible. For many years, she also enjoyed mailing cards to family and friends on special holidays and birthdays. Frieda loved strawberry sundaes, good coffee, breaded shrimp, pan fried bullheads, and spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.
Survivors include five children: Arlene (Larry) Turcotte of Antigo, Peggy Lorge of Tennessee, Lola (friend Earl) Mauritz of Marion, Gerald (friend Paola) Mauritz of Tigerton, and Marie (Jason) Devroy of Tigerton. There are 15 grandchildren: Scott, Joshua, Michael, Aaron, Brittany, Peggy Sue, Roger Jr., Emily, Lora May, Matthew, Howard, Jenny, Raymond, Chloe, and Isabella. There are 8 great grandchildren: Lakota, Anthony, Zachary, Caleb, Zoey, Raelynn, Charlotte, and Lana. There are two sisters, Beverly Cady of Ogdensburg and Karen Seelig of Tigerton. She is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law: Jack (Julie) Mauritz of Tigerton, Janice (Tom) Knaup of Tigerton, Joyce Huebner of Omro, and Connie Mauritz of Tigerton; and numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond Jr.; an infant daughter; two infant sons Raymond and Joseph; a granddaughter Victoria; and five brothers, Arlyn, Bernie, Marvin, Martin, and Pete Huebner. She is further preceded by her in-laws, Raymond and Laura Mauritz Sr.; and four brothers-in-law, Arden Cady, Clarence Seelig, Michael Mauritz, and Mitchell Mauritz.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 24th at 12:00 Noon at Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Sharon Fox-Bogen will officiate and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
