SHAWANO, WI- Students at Hillcrest Primary School in Shawano got the chance to pick out two free books as a result of a reading campaign put together by NBC 26.
The news station chose Hillcrest in Shawano as their recipient of the “If you Give A Child A Book” campaign.
Hillcrest Principal Troy Edwards said a little reading is just what the kids need after the last two years.
“Right now, I would be willing to bet there are many of our students that don’t have books in their home.”
NBC 26 collected donations for the last few months and ended up with enough money to give away 1,336 books to students on Tuesday.
Students got to choose two books of their choosing from the Scholastic Book Fair that is currently going on at the school.
