MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network) – College students all over Wisconsin are still waiting to see whether a portion of their student loans will be forgiven. More than 43 million students would be affected nationwide. Payments and interest are scheduled to resume in May. President Joe Biden promised to forgive at least part of the student loans when he was on the campaign trail last year. In March 2020 Biden tweeted a minimum of 10 thousand dollars per person holding federal student loans should be forgiven. Many students say the promise led them to vote for Biden.
