MADISON,WI- (Wisconsin Radio Network) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is encouraging the state’s deer hunters to wear masks and wash their hands during the annual hunt that starts this weekend. The U-S Department of Agriculture reports coronavirus antibodies have been found in deer harvested in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania. The virus hasn’t been found in Wisconsin deer yet. The D-N-R emphasizes there have been no confirmed records of deer to human infection. Wisconsin’s gun deer season starts Saturday and runs through November 28th. Doctors say it isn’t likely there will be a big number of hunters coming down with COVID-19 because the deer they shot was positive for the virus. Still, it’s always good to be on the safe side.
