
Jerald “Jerry” Olmsted, age 53, of Clintonville passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at SSM Health Monroe Hospital, Monroe, WI due to complications from COVID-19 pneumonia.
Jerald John Olmsted was born on March 20, 1968, at New London Hospital to Keith and Joan (Jarvais) Olmsted. He grew up in the Bear Creek area and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1987. Jerry joined his father and began driving truck with the family business, Keith R. Olmsted & Sons of Bear Creek. He hauled milk for close to 34 years. Jerry was united in marriage on June 26, 2004, to Lisa M. Moeller at Trinity Lutheran Church in New London.
Jerry was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Bear Creek. He enjoyed the outdoors, going camping, or just sitting by the campfire. Jerry also liked to attend the Farm Tech Days each year and was a master negotiator when it came to buying a truck or equipment. He always made time for folks and listened to farmers to help with any problems they may have. Jerry will be remembered most as a kind and generous man who would give the shirt off his back to help others in need. He was quite the storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humor. Jerry especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Lisa; and three children, Olivia Olmsted of Clintonville, Aaron (Melissa) Huebner of Clintonville, and Emily (Tony) Knuth of Fremont. There are four grandchildren: Mira, Korbyn, Hazel, and Derrick. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Marty and Shirley Moeller of New London, and his sister-in-law, Jenny (Allen) Bork of Clintonville. There are twelve siblings: Mary (Ken) Hohensee of Florida, Sue (John) Rusch of Shawano, Don (Charlotte) Olmsted of Bear Creek, Patty (Tom) Daley of Neenah, Joan (Jerry) Plumb of Clintonville, Dan (friend Wendy Sasman) Olmsted of Bear Creek, Jim (Ann) Olmsted of Bear Creek, Mike (fiancée Sarah Janssen) Olmsted of Bear Creek, Andy (Lorry) Hoier of New London, John (Hazel) Hoier of New London, Kara Hoier of Hudson, and Amy (Manuel) Silva of Appleton. He is further survived by good friends, Toby and Amy Kersten of Clintonville, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alex Keith Olmsted; two brothers, Mark Olmsted and Rodney Hoier; and a sister-in-law, Chris Olmsted.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 15th at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, Bear Creek. Rev. Aric Fenske will officiate and burial will follow at Danish Cemetery, Bear Creek. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on Friday from 12:00 Noon until time of service at the church.
