TOWN OF UNDERHILL, WI- A Gillett man is facing charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle after a crash resulted in the death of his passenger.
54-year-old Mark Martin allegedly crashed his truck after failing to stop at an intersection, striking trees, and ending up in a ditch. Police responded to the scene around 11:09 p.m Sunday. According to the police report, Martin told police that he had “a lot” to drink that night.
His passenger, a 54-year-old Keshena man was trapped inside the vehicle and was reported deceased at the scene.
Martin was in court this week and a $50,000 dollar cash bond was set.
According to court records, Martin has four previous OWI convictions and did not have a valid driver’s license.
Martin is scheduled to be back in court next week.
