MILWAUKEE, WI- (Wisconsin Radio Network) -Trade acquisitions like Willy Adames and Eduardo Escobar are obvious factors, but how is a Brewers team that was expected to be solid – but not great – running away with the National League Central Division? The obvious answer is a pitching staff that has emerged from disarray of just a few seasons ago to one of the best in Major League Baseball. Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta all rank among the top two dozen pitchers when measured by Wins Above Replacement gains. Burnes is number-one, Peralta number-16 and Woodruff number-23. As the Brewers continue their push toward the division title, Adrian Houser recently pitched a complete-game two-hitter and Eric Lauer has put up an earned run average of one-point-93 over his last seven starts. Houser takes the mound for tonight’s (Friday’s) 7:10 p-m game against the Cubs at American Family Field.
