MADISON, WI- (Wisconsin Radio Network)- Researchers at U-W Health are working to determine the proper dosage of the Moderna vaccine for children. Doctor William Hartman says the vaccine is the same, but it has to be administered differently for smaller, younger patients. Hartman says it’s just another step in the university’s commitment to fighting coronavirus. The researchers are trying to work out the correct dosage for patients six months to 12 years old. Hartman says the dosage for the youngest patients will likely be reduced even further than it is for those 12 years old.
Many area school districts continue to debate masking requirements for students under the age of 12 since currently, they are not able to be vaccinated.
