KESHENA, WI- The general manager of the Menominee Casino Resort confirms last week’s closing was due to a cyberattack. The casino shut down Friday.
Tribal Chairman Gunner Peters confirmed that it was not a ransomware attack.
At the time, casino management referred to “technical difficulties” as the reason for the action. A message from general manager Daniel Hansen on the casino’s Facebook page says there was an attempted attack on its computer systems.
Hansen says the resort is working with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts on the case.
So far, it appears no guess or staff member information was compromised.
The anticipated date to re-open was listed as this Thursday at the earliest.
