PESHTIGO, WI- The Bonduel Bears look to keep their playoff run going as they travel to Peshtigo Monday.
The Bears were winners over Menominee Indian 15-0 in a four-inning game.
Nakiyah Henning tossed a no-hitter and led the team with 6 RBI in the win.
“The feeling was definitely crazy and a moment I will never forget.”
It was Henning’s first no-hitter, and she dominated with 8 strikeouts of the 12 outs in the game.
Henning says her team’s bats came alive early and they need to do that against Peshtigo.
“When they start hitting, my confidence builds up and I start doing better.”
Bonduel Coach Chris Reinke said she felt it was Henning’s pitching that set the tone.
“She struck out the side in the first inning and I think that just led to everyone feeling more relaxed.”
Reinke said she was happy to see Nakiyah pitch so well since it was so hot. She said the Eagles made her work as they took a lot of pitches.
The Bears are the number 7 seed and Peshtigo is the 2 seed. The winner will play the winner of #6 Oconto Falls and #3 Oconto.
“I have a great team and we need to just believe we can,” said Henning.
