
Elmore H. Baumgarten, Sr., age 94 of Shawano, passed away peacefully Friday morning, February 26, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Shawano.
Elmore was born July 18, 1926 in the Town of Belle Plaine, a son of the late, Otto and Violet (Griesbach) Dickow. He attended country school before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served in WWII. Stationed in the Pacific Theatre, Elmore served in the Infantry as a paratrooper, and later as a military policeman. On January 22, 1946, Elmore was united in marriage to Deloris DeMarb in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Shawano where he was a sheet metal worker at the Melvin Knope Roofing, Heating, and Air Conditioning Co. He is a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Elmore enjoyed hunting, trapshooting, and bowling.
Survivors include his daughter Kathy (Dennis) Westerfeld of Shawano; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Wayne Singer of Shawano; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Baumgarten of Gillett; and several nieces and nephews. Elmore was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris on May 26, 2016; his daughter, Beverly Singer and son, Elmore H. Baumgarten, Jr.; his sister, Joyce Raasch; his granddaughter, Ronda Springborn; and two sons in infancy.
Private family services for Elmore will be held.
