
Charles “Chuck” Adams, age 66, of Marion passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.
Charles Albert Adams was born on January 4, 1954 at Clintonville Hospital to Eugene and Doris (May) Adams. He grew up in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1972. Chuck was united in marriage on November 4, 1978 to Joni K. Wendler at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wittenberg. He was employed at Marion Plywood two different times over a 23-year period. Chuck served as the plant manager at Besse Forest Products in Mattoon for 24 years. Then he worked for several months at Clayhill Custom Cabinets & Millwork in Marion, before retiring in January of 2020.
Chuck was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Big Falls, where he was active on Church Council. He was a proud member of the Marion Rotary Club for many years, earning the Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Chuck also served on the Marion School Board for 10 years.
In his early days, Chuck sang for lots of weddings around the area. He appreciated music and especially liked the Marion Lions Club performances. He was handy with woodworking projects around the house. He enjoyed baking breads, cookies, and candies for friends and family. He also liked collecting wildlife prints and winning on the slot machines at the casino. Chuck frequently helped other relatives with whatever they needed. He often took his mother-in-law to appointments and helped her with lots of other tasks. Chuck always had a heart of gold, an excellent sense of humor, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joni; and three children, Amanda Adams of Winona, MN, Jason Adams of Fond du Lac, and Rebecca (Steve) Niesen of Winneconne. There are eight grandchildren: Serenity (Antwon), Zane, Bubba, Carlos, Gracie, Alexander, Channing, and Jasmine; and one great granddaughter, Gianna. There are eight siblings: Margaret Zwirschitz of Clintonville, Jeannie Morrison of Appleton, Georgia (Bob) Wagner of New Holstein, Betty Rhode of Oshkosh, Billy (Patty) Adams of Marion, Bonnie Pfeiler-Adams of Annandale, MN, Connie (Jeff) Barthels of Van Dyne, and Terry (Lisa) Adams of Appleton. He is further survived by his mother-in-law Pat Wendler of Wittenberg; two sisters-in-law Brenda Wendler of Clintonville and Theresa (Mike) Stai of Watertown; two brothers-in-law Charlie (Shirley) Wendler of Wittenberg and Willy (Laura) Wendler of Chippewa Falls; his dog Patches and a granddog Scooby; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Eugene & Doris; his father-in-law Clarence Wendler; a niece Amy Oviedo; three nephews Ryan Wendler, Clayton Pfeiler, and Jeff Tarlton; two brothers-in-law Bill Zwirschitz and Jim Morrison; and his dog Tanya.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 31st at 11:00 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Big Falls. Rev. Janice Kuder will officiate and inurnment will be at a later date at Roseland Cemetery, Town of Dupont. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church.
