
Marcella M. Kauss, age 94, of Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Homme Home of Wittenberg.
The former Marcella May Marquardt was born May 12, 1926 in the Town of Fairbanks and was the daughter of the late Otto and Hulda (Wesener) Marquardt. Marcella grew up in the Tigerton area and went to Lone Maple Grade School and then Tigerton High School. On June 5, 1943 she was united in marriage to Arthur Kauss at Peace Lutheran Church, Split Rock. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Town of Fairbanks for many years; and work hard on the farm up to retirement. Marcella was also employed for some time at Hanson Glove Factory, Clintonville.
Marcella was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton, and was active in the financial committee and memorial fund, served as treasurer, and with the Alter Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marcella also liked playing cards, watching and feeding the birds, going fishing, and being outdoors working in her large vegetable garden. More recently, she watched her grandson Jon plant the garden. Marcella loved doing puzzles with her sister-in-law Rosie and spending time with her good friend Frances Shest.
Survivors include three daughters: Bonnie Rohlinger of Stevens Point, Nancy Kauss of Stevens Point, and Kathryn (Jack) Knaup of Tigerton; two sons-in-law, Robert Freckmann of Stevens Point and Fred Anklam of Tigerton; and a sister-in-law, Rosie Marquardt of Tigerton. There are 9 grandchildren: Jeff (Audrey) Rohlinger, Barb (Randy) Riehle, Suzanne (Kevin) Giese, James Rohlinger, Jennifer (Pete) Augustine, Kelly (Darin) Anklam, Jeremy (Michelle) Knaup, Jonathan (Sarah) Knaup, and Nicole Knaup. There are 13 great grandchildren: Louisa, Neil, and Joseph Rohlinger; Kaitlyn and Cassandra Riehle; Emily and Ethan Giese; Megan and Allison Augustine; Brock Wendt; Ashley, Abigail, and Justin Knaup.
Marcella was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband Arthur on June 26, 1995; two daughters, Sally Freckmann and Joan Anklam; three brothers, Lester (Elaine and Adeline) Marquardt, Marcus Marquardt, and an infant Otto Marquardt Jr.; three sisters, Vernice (Elmer) Michaelis, Wilma (Jack) Ewald, and Myra (Merle “Sonny”) Niemuth.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Dean Suehring will officiate and burial follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting with the arrangements.
