
NEW LONDON, WI – On Friday New London City Officials consulted with the Waupaca County and Outagamie County Department of Health and Human Services, Waupaca County Emergency Management, and ThedaCare. After evaluating all the information and recommendations the New London Shamrock Club and City of New London Officials are announcing the St. Patrick’s Day events including the parade has been canceled.
The switching of the signs and Hooligan Day will continue.
“Rest assured, this decision was not taken lightly as we understand the positive economic and social benefits this event has for New London businesses and the community as a whole,” City Officials say.
However, complying with federal and state recommendations at this time is more important as the health of New London residents is the first priority.
On Thursday, March 12th WI Governor Tony Evers In response to the COVID‐19 declared a State of Health Emergency in the State of WI and the WI Department of Health and Human Services came out with a guideline for a large gathering. Part of the guideline stated: The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) recommends that all non-essential gatherings of 250 or more people be canceled or postponed statewide to help protect Wisconsinites from the spread of COVID-19, particularly those who are most vulnerable to infection and severe disease.
