GREEN BAY, WI – College campuses in the area are making some adjustments to help prevent any possible spread of Coronavirus.
UW-Green Bay will be teaching their classes via “alternative delivery methods” beginning March 23 and going through at least March 28. Students leaving campus for spring break are strongly encouraged to go home and remain home until further notice. Students are also encouraged to take instructional materials home with them over spring break. The campus will be providing accommodations for students that are not able to leave campus during spring break. All University-sponsored spring break trips for students and faculty have been canceled.
In addition, Campus events from March 14 through March 22 have been canceled. The Kress Events Center will be closed to the public from March 14-March 29. Students are strongly encouraged to take the necessary precautions to keep yourself from coming in contact with infected individuals. UW-Green Bay is also discouraging travel to locations where a state of emergency has been declared. That includes California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Travelers returning from Level 3 (High Risk) countries (China, Iran, Italy and South Korea) will be required by the Department of Homeland Security or other governmental agencies to follow CDC After-Travel Health Precautions, to include self-monitoring from home for 14 days and social distancing.
St. Norbert College is asking students who leave for Spring Break to take all course material home with them as they should prepare to finish the rest of the semester from home.
School officials urge all staff and students to follow preventive measures including avoiding close contact with people who are sick, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, wash hands often, stay home when sick, cover your cough and sneezes and clean and disinfect objects.
UW-Madison is suspending face-to-face classes beginning March 23 and going through at least April 10. Students are being urged not to return to school following spring break.
